Freelance Communications Manager (Project-based)
EU Project: ClowNexus – Creative Encounters for Mental Health
Duration: 36 months | Approx. 80 working days | Total budget: EUR 20,000
For the EU-funded cooperation project ClowNexus – Creative Encounters for Mental Health, RED NOSES International is looking for a freelance communications professional to manage the project’s communication activities on a project basis over a three-year period, in close coordination with the project team.
RED NOSES International (RNI) is an artistic and humanitarian organization that connects with diverse groups of audiences through the art of clowning. We work with children in hospitals, children and youth with disabilities, individuals in crisis situations, and senior citizens. Our headquarters, located in Vienna, coordinates 11 RED NOSES organizations across Europe and the Middle East, and is responsible for our global outreach efforts.
About the project
ClowNexus – Creative Encounters for Mental Health is a cross-sectoral European cooperation project that brings together healthcare clowning organisations to support youth mental health and strengthen the arts-for-health field.
Growing evidence shows the positive impact of healthcare clowning, an applied performing arts discipline, on hospitalised children and adolescents. At the same time, Europe is facing a youth mental health crisis, with a significant rise in children and adolescents receiving inpatient treatment for psychological conditions. This underlines the need for specialised artistic methods and humour-based care approaches with measurable impact.
ClowNexus responds by developing new healthcare clowning methods and by supporting healthcare professionals in integrating humour and creativity into patient care. A further objective is to strengthen healthcare clowning organisations, which often have limited access to training, exchange and professional recognition.
The project delivers cross-border Artistic Labs, artist mobility and training, a peer-to-peer dissemination model, as well as advocacy, communication and impact evaluation activities. By engaging ten partners across Europe, ClowNexus contributes to key priorities of the Creative Europe programme, including cross-border collaboration, capacity building in the cultural sector and the strategic use of the arts to address societal challenges.
Participating countries: Austria, Finland, Spain, Lithuania, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Italy
